What made you sign up for the Nivea 5X5 Challenge?

Life is so special were we sometimes forget how privileged we are.  Having the opportunity to bring a smile to a child’s face is priceless.  The Ladybird Foundation’s cause, does just that! I am proud to take part and contribute.

Have you ever attempted such a distance before? 

Never had and never thought I would!!  Aiming to swim 16km is a challenge in itself especially when you are no longer agile or fit as you once were 🙂  We are all working on shedding a few pounds and getting ‘match ready’ for D day :)….

What are your thoughts as you look forward to the challenge ahead? 

The challenge is all about embracing ones physical and mental capabilities.  I am looking at it as an opportunity to help a child and family have a unique and memorable experience to treasure for the rest of their lives whatever it may be.  At the same time I am making new friends, teaching my children the value of life, commitment and believing in a just cause.  The rest as much as it could be painful or a concern is superfluous when considering the ultimate objective of the challenge.
